3. Definitions
- “Customer”, “you”, “your” – the person or business ordering electrical services.
- “Services” – electrical installation, repair, testing, inspection, maintenance, or associated works.
- “Quotation” – written or electronic estimate or fixed‑price offer.
- “Contract” – agreement formed when you accept a quotation verbally, by email, or via our online system.
- “Customer’s Equipment” – any equipment, materials, or property belonging to the customer.
4. General Terms
- All work is carried out to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 and relevant Building Regulations.
- Where PVC containment is used, metal fire‑rated clips will be installed where required.
- We reserve the right to refuse or postpone work if unsafe conditions exist.
5. Quotations & Estimates
All work is quoted for based on the visual inspection carried out, if on removal of floor boards or any other obstruction to carry out the work, extra work is required a cost will be indicated to the customer at the earliest opportunity.
- A quotation covers only the work specifically listed. Additional work requires a revised quotation.
- “Blind” quotations (issued without a site visit) may require adjustment following inspection.
- All changes to the agreed scope must be confirmed in writing.
- Acceptance of a quotation (verbally or by email) forms a binding contract.
- If no quotation is provided, work is charged at our standard hourly/day rate.
- Quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise, however due to the current changes to copper prices, parts prices may vary during this period.
- Where existing installations do not meet minimum BS 7671 standards, additional remedial work may be required at extra cost.
6. Access & Working Conditions
- You must provide safe, unobstructed access to all work areas.
- Children and pets must be kept away from work areas.
- We may require access to areas outside the immediate work zone for testing.
- We are not responsible for moving furniture; if we assist, no liability is accepted for accidental damage.
- If asbestos is suspected, work will stop until testing is completed by a specialist contractor.
7. Labour Rates & Charges
- Standard hourly rate: £62.50 per hour
- Part‑hours are charged pro‑rata.
- Travel time is included within labour charges.
- Out‑of‑hours or emergency rates may differ and will be agreed in advance.
- Materials are charged at cost plus a reasonable handling margin.
- All materials remain the property of PJS Electrics until paid in full.
8. Deposits & Payment Terms
- Jobs over £750 require a 40%, for new customers, 25% for returning customers non refundable deposit to secure the booking.
- For projects with snagging, 95% of the invoice is due on completion, with the remaining 5% payable once snags are resolved.
- Invoices are due on receipt unless otherwise agreed.
- Late payments may incur interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 2013.
- Certificates will not be issued until payment is received.
- Payment methods: bank transfer, cheque, or cash.
9. Cancellation
- Cancellations within 24 hours of the agreed start time incur a £75 fee.
- Under the Consumer Rights Act, domestic customers have a 14‑day cooling‑off period, unless work begins sooner at their request.
- Emergency or urgent works are exempt from cooling‑off rights.
- If we arrive on site and cannot gain access, this is treated as a cancellation.
10. Workmanship, Guarantees & Materials
- Standard workmanship guarantee: 12 months.
- Extended guarantees may be available on request.
- Manufacturer warranties apply to materials (typically 12 months unless stated otherwise).
- We do not certify or guarantee work carried out by others.
- If another trade interferes with our work, affected circuits will not be certified.
11. Electrical Installation & Testing
- All work is carried out with reasonable care and skill.
- Testing may require temporary power interruption.
- We are not liable for loss of data, online connectivity, or equipment resets caused by power isolation.
- Cables will be concealed where reasonably practicable; otherwise, surface containment will be used.
- Plastering, and decorating are excluded unless specifically quoted.
- Floor coverings will be lifted carefully where required, but re‑fitting cannot be guaranteed.
12. Waste Removal
- Waste removal is not included unless specified.
- PJS Electrics is a registered waste carrier.
13. Certification
- Certificates are issued in accordance with BS 7671, Part P, and relevant standards.
- Certificates are provided electronically, printing is available at an additional cost
- Replacement copies may incur an administration fee.
14. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Obtaining any necessary permissions (landlord, planning, building control).
- Ensuring the site is safe and accessible.
- Protecting valuables, furniture, and sensitive equipment.
- Ensuring the property is insured during works.
- Providing accurate information regarding the installation.
15. Liability
- We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our negligence.
- We are not liable for:
- Pre‑existing faults
- Damage caused by third parties
- Consequential losses (e.g., loss of profit, business interruption)
- Issues arising from customer‑supplied materials
- Our liability is limited to the value of the contract unless otherwise required by law.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
16. Termination
Either party may terminate the contract if:
- A material breach is not remedied within 14 days
- Access is repeatedly denied
- Work cannot proceed due to safety concerns
- An event outside our control prevents completion
Any work completed up to the termination date must be paid for.
17. Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failure to perform due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to:
- Power failure
- Extreme weather
- Industrial action
- Supply chain disruption
- Illness or injury
- Acts of terrorism or natural disaster
18. Complaints
We take complaints seriously.

19. Data Protection
We comply with UK GDPR.
